2025 Thoughts So Far
I hope you have all survived the cold winter we’re having (in WA anyway)and are ready for a little sunshine! I have enjoyed the blustery weather while painting cozily indoors, but I’m also ready to get to the beach for some painting inspiration! (Ah yes, that creepy lady with the camera yet again - I’m an embarrassment to my family ;)).
I spent this Thursday painting at Arts Edge Gallery in Joondalup as part of my ‘artist in residence’. It was great fun to be out of the house and practicing my live painting. I’m a bit of a nervous painter around others but I found my groove after the initial few brushstrokes and completed two little ‘jumpers’, who can be found on my page, along with a video by Arts Edge.
I’m particularly excited for a workshop on gouache coming up next week, being presented online by some of the best illustrators in the US. Hopefully this will add to my knowledge and skill. I love to learn everything I can about painting and achieving aesthetic works.
The next exciting adventure will be Plein Air Downunder. It will be my 4th year down at Mandurah, painting in the great outdoors and learning from some epic masters. There’s nothing like Plein air to improve your value studies and colour knowledge. Photographs don’t cut it when it comes to seeing real colour relationships. If you’re at the festival stop and say hi if you see me!
Are you asleep yet? TMI? Well I hope to check in again soon with more interesting news! So please bear with me and come back when you feel like another nap! If you’d like to tell me about your month, don’t be shy! I lovvve to hear from fellow artists and collectors! Peace out!
